Must Have Auto Power Tools for Your Shop
Posted: Oct 24, 2013
There are several automotive tools that are essential and that you must have in your shop. Customers that come to your shop for repair will need quality work done on their cars. This is what keeps them coming back. In order to achieve this, you need to invest in quality power tools. The types you buy will depend on the type of services you offer your customers but there are still some tools that cut across the board.
Auto power tools are easier to operate since you do not put as much effort in them as manual hand tools. All you need is to plug them into a power source. It is for this reason that you should have a portable generator in order to ensure that you have constant power supply. There are also cordless auto tools for sale that use batteries. This makes them more portable around the shop.
Some of the most common power tools are impact wrenches. They perform the same task as the manual tools but they are more efficient. They speed up the process of tightening and loosening bolts. This way you will be able to do repairs faster and also protect your fingers from having to do the process manually.
You also need a soldering iron. Sometimes the hole on the body of the car can be fixed by soldering instead of replacing it. This is one of the best automotive power tools to have if you run a body shop as it means you will constantly be cutting up and joining different metal pieces. In addition, you will require special power saws to cut up these pieces of metal.
An electric drill is another tool that you need for your garage. It is a versatile piece of equipment and you can use it to drill holes, screw as well as remove screws. While it is mostly associated with building projects or carpentry, a body auto shop can use it for various tasks.
You will also need lifting accessories for your auto shop. Some of the repair works you get to do might require that you hoist the car or the engine up for better access. There are power tools which can be used to make this work easier. These include jacks and others.
There are also many hand tools which do not require power. These can be used to perform simple tasks in order to save on your electricity bills. Things like screwdrivers, pliers, hammers, brushes and others are available. For some of these tools it is best if you bought a set instead of individual pieces.
You might also want to stock several other items in your shop in case your customers need them. For instance, you could have automotive lighting supplies to resell to your customers whenever they have problems with theirs. This will save them the need of having to go elsewhere to look for them.
All the tools mentioned above are essential and you should have them in your auto shop.
