Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Repairing Services Provider

Author: Anadi Auto

Original appliances manufacturers of variable frequency drive constantly produce new variable frequency drive products and discontinue variable frequency drive products that are currently in production across the globe. This puts the original equipment manufacturer at an advantage, and the end-user of obsolete variable frequency drive products at the mercy of purchasing new equipment in place of obsolete discontinued products. When a drive fails, minimal production downtime is critical; this is where VFD repair services present expedited solutions; to minimize manufacturers’ downtime by working around the clock to repair failed drive equipment. Drive repair service canters can often repair failed equipment and get the repaired equipment back into production before the original appliances the manufacturer even offers their customer a replacement or repair quote.

VFD use to reduce energy consumption and costs if you are using any industrial application that is not needed to run at a full speed. In this situation, you can reduce energy costs by controlling the motor with VFD. VFD is able to match the speed of the motor-based component to the load need.

Anadi Automation is the Leader in Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) repair, Our many years of experience performing VFD repair allow us to provide a great cost-saving service that you and your company can depend on to add years of life to your existing variable frequency drives and other controls.

Top Maintenance & Troubleshooting Tips for Variable Frequency Drives

Tips for Effective VFD Maintenance:

  • Keep it Dry: Moisture is defecting to electronics so keeping your VFD dry is critical. If you run your VFD every day, the normal radiant heat from the heat sink should prevent any potential condensation. You can also use a thermostatically controlled space heater in damp or condensation-prone areas.
  • Keep it Clean: Dirt is the other kryptonite for electronics. Dust and dirt on a VFD can cause a lack of airflow which can result in lower performance and the dreaded overheating which usually ends badly. Dust actually absorbs moisture so the more dirt you allow to build up, the more moisture is trapped creating the setting for equipment failure. If you use compressed air for cooling it must go through a super dryer. And make sure the compressed air is oil-free and non-static generating to avoid electrostatic discharge.
  • Keep the Connections Tight: You might be surprised how often loose connections contribute to erratic performance, scrap, and machine damage, machine failures, and even personal injury. Use caution when returning the connections. Use a thermal camera or digital pyrometer (get one if you don’t have one, this is important) and check the VFD under load.

Troubleshooting tips for VFD:

  • Inspect the components. Look for bulging or leaking DC bus capacitors. These could be indications of maturing or overstressed segments and should be supplanted. Check the date codes on the capacitors too. These date codes are pretty accurate and aging capacitors are a common cause of the trouble.
  • Check the fans. Look and listen for signs of bearing failure or foreign objects.
  • Take voltage measurements with the VFD. Your manufacturer will have measurement guidelines for this. Problems with the voltage can indicate many things including old capacitors, bad diode bridge, and transistor leakage all of which need time to time repairs.
  • Check heat temperatures often, weekly is best but monthly will work. You will most likely have a direct temperature readout on the keypad or display to make this an easy check.
