Everest Base Camp Trek| Hike Nepal
Everest Base Camp trek is one of the typical trek that is done in the Himalayan region of Nepal. It is one of the major treks that trekkers prefer as it is considered as one of the scenic routes to trek. This route is done in the Sagarmatha National Park region of Nepal. Basically, the trip towards the base camp starts and ends at Lukla. Lukla is also known as the ‘Gateway of Everest’. Trekkers prefer to fly to lukla and begin their trek from their as the journey towards lukla from veivhle could be quite tiresome.
As the trip starts from the capital city Kathmandu, if the weather conditions are good then lukla can be easily reached by airways which takes approximately 25- 30 minutes. The journey towards Everest Base Camp begins the very day as the trekkers have to hike toward phakding which takes about 4 hrs. of trek. Simply, the first day trekkers have short experience of trekking and what they are about to face for upcoming 10- 13 days.
Trek starts from phakding and mostly end up in Namche Bazar which takes almost 6hrs of trek (12km approx.). trekkers take an easy hike via mojo that basically ends in Namche. Some trekkers call it a day and stop at mojo. That’s up to the trekkers choice looking at their conditions. While moving up towards Namche, this is the day that the trekkers enter to the Sagarmatha National Park. After reaching Namche the trekkers have a lot of time and can explore the areas of Namche. It is recommended that the trekkers should stay at Namche for acclimatization. The trekkers can do a short hike of 1-2 hrs. on upper parts of Namche.
After the stay in Namche the trek starts towards tengboche which is famous for its monasteries. the duration towards tengboche almost takes about 6-7 hrs. if normal trek. The distance from Namche towards tengboche is almost about 11 kms approx. the tengboche monastery is also considered as the biggest monastery in the sagarmatha region.
The next day starts from tengboche with a goal to reach dingboche which is also known as the home of the Himalayan Rescue Association. Trekkers can stay in dingboche for a day for acclimatization as the increasing altitude could take a toll on some of trekkers.
After a day in dingboche trekkers can start trekking from dingboche towards lobuche which is almost 12kms and takes about 7-8 hrs. of trek depending upon the walking capacity of the trekkers. This is the day before reaching Everest Base camp.
The next day trekkers hike from lobuche to gorak shep and reach Everest Base Camp. Trekkers can enjoy an hour or two depending upon the conditions and trek back again to gorak shep. Trekkers spend the night in gorak shep and the trek back home starts form gorak shep as trekkers can reach dingboche via kala patthar. Kala patthar is also the highest point a trekker can reach in terms of altitude which is 5500 m. the same day trekkers can spend the night in dingboche.
The final phase of the trek begins as the trekkers trek back towards Namche Bazar from dingboche in a single day as the trek is quite easy compared to other days of trek. After the night in Namche, finally trekkers reach at lukla after 8 hrs. of trek. Trekkers can celebrate about their adventurous trek in lukla. Finally, the last day is the day that trekkers reach Kathmandu via airways from lukla.
