The role of polyaluminum chloride in swimming pools
At present, the commonly used flocculants in swimming pool water treatment are alum and polyaluminum chloride. Alum is used because it is soluble in water and can produce aluminum hydroxide, which can attract and aggregate negatively charged impurities in the water to achieve the purpose of clarifying water quality. The polyaluminum chloride used in the treatment of swimming pool water is a high-content spray drinking-grade polyaluminum chloride. The swimming pool water treated with this type of polyaluminum chloride has clean water quality, less residues, and low aluminum content, which is harmful to the human body. The harm is small, and the performance in swimming pool water treatment is excellent.
The use of polyaluminum chloride is due to the microscopic substances and sweat, cosmetics and microorganisms secreted by many human activities in the swimming pool. It is difficult to remove using only a quartz sand filter or simple filtration. Therefore, a coagulant must be added, that is, polyaluminum chloride pac. After the product is dissolved, it combines with impurities and organic matter in the water to form large particles, which are then filtered through quartz sand to achieve the purpose of purification.
Precipitation with polyaluminum chloride is a reliable method to bind phosphorus in the water mass, so it no longer contributes to eutrophication. It is expected that in a short period of time, this effect will lead to a decrease in phosphorus content in the water and a decrease in algae growth.
Cryptosporidium removal. Cryptosporidium is a single-celled parasite that causes gastrointestinal diseases. In swimming pools, people can develop the disease by swimming in water contaminated with Cryptosporidium oocysts. The addition of PAC is essential to help filter out the infective cysts of Cryptosporidium, otherwise the cysts will pass through the filter and enter the pool water. For this reason, the PAC should be dosed continuously and accurately before filtration, and the PAC injection should ensure good mixing, and there should be at least 10 seconds for the PAC to run before the flow reaches the filter medium. This process can be simplified by installing the PAC Pro automatic dosing system.
Compared with traditional water purifiers, polyaluminum chloride has the characteristics of less dosage and better effect when treating swimming pool water, which can greatly save costs and improve water treatment efficiency. When the polyaluminum chloride is used again, it has a very good effect when the pH value of the water body is 4-9, and it is less affected by the temperature change of the treated water body. At this time, regardless of the turbidity of the swimming pool water treated, it has a good water purification effect, because the corrosiveness of polyaluminum chloride is small, and the impact on the swimming pool water treatment equipment is low. In use, only need to dissolve the polyaluminum chloride in water, configure it into a 3% to 5% aqueous solution, and add it to the swimming pool water through a dosing pump, which is simple and convenient to operate.
