4 Most Extreme Sports to get Your Heart Pumping
Skydiving has become such a popular sport that it really isn’t “extreme” enough anymore. Now (more than ever) people are looking for a thrill like no other. If you are looking to find a unique way to cheat death, you have come to the right spot.
Here are the 4 extreme sports that you will never forget:
#1 Lava Surfing
One touch of lava can melt your entire hand, so why not go surfing on it? That’s exactly what lava surfing is. The riders wear a heat resistant material and they ride on plywood reinforced by steel as the glide from top to bottom on the lava rocks. Doesn’t sound intense enough? Try number 2.
#2 Base Jumping
Base-jumping is significantly more dangerous than similar sports such as skydiving, and is currently regarded by many as a fringe extreme sport or stunt. Base jumps can be from buildings, cliffs, bridges and antennas. Jumpers have seconds to pull their parachute once they have jumped and also have little time to glide once the parachute is out. This quick and snappy aspect of base-jumping is what makes this is such a dangerous extreme sport. New developments such as wing suits are going to propel base-jumping into an even more popular extreme sport.
#3 Tow-in Surfing
Surfers love to drop off from the highest of waves, some of which are as tall as skyscrapers. The problem is how to get and latch onto the waves in time, as the waves move so quickly that it is extremely difficult to paddle into them. With the invention of the Jet Ski, however, the problem seems to have been solved. Surfing stars like Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama can attest to the rush brought about by this technique. Of course, now that they are able to reach the top of the wave, they now face another problem of being thrown into sharp reefs or being held down underwater in case of a wipeout.
#4 Shark Cage Diving in South Africa
Have you ever watched a show during shark week and thought, “Hmmmm… I’d love to be face to face with a great white shark?” Well then shark cage diving is the prefect extreme sport for you. Cage diving with sharks is an intense, intimidating, yet extremely rewarding experience that gives you a completely new and up close and personal perspective on sharks.
You have the opportunity to experience a one-on-one encounter with these magnificent ocean predators. No previous diving experience or equipment is required but you do however need a good amount of courage. It is an experience you will cherish for the rest of your life.
If basic skydiving and bungee jumping are too mainstream for you, and you are looking to find a once in a lifetime thrill, why not try surfing on lava or coming face to face with one of the world’s more deadliest predators? Like John Green said: “What is the point of living if you don’t do something remarkable?”
