Five mistakes to avoid if you are an advertising and marketing agency

In the initial phase of any agency there is always a high probability of committing mistakes and higher scope of learning from them and improving. Each and every person in the team faces different challenges and thus, mistakes become inevitable.

Although, when there is a scope of committing mistakes there sure is scope of avoiding them too. Advertising and marketing are the two limbs of any organization that has the aim to move forward and lead. That is when an advertising and marketing agency comes into play.

In order to score more and more clients and serve them with satisfactory services an agency should make sure of not committing the following mistakes.

  • Listen. Listen carefully:When the client servicing team representatives meet the client there is an air that is unavoidable. The air of misunderstandings and mishearing. The only way to avoid that air from messing with your work is to listen carefully as to what the client is saying.
  • Do not react when the ideas get copied:Advertising is all about good and great ideas. When a client invites you to pitch ideas, you surely give the best. At times, client tends to copy your idea and get it done from some other agency at low costs. Do not react in such situations. You definitely want to yell to get rid of the frustration but avoid it. Be happy and feel the indirect appreciation. Acknowledge the fact that your idea got utilized. Whenever that client needs good ideas, it will come back to you and that’s when you put up a little fee over your pitched ideas. This way even when the idea is stolen at least you get something for it.
  • Proper allocation of tasks:Avoid the clutter. When there is a task that requires a lot of brain storming, allocate the task to a team. Team work always brings out the best because when so many brains work the outcome becomes more creative.
  • Do not lose creativity in order to follow the client brief:USP of a marketing and advertising agency is the creative ideas they offer. When the client tells you what to do and what not, try to put a filter in your mind. The filter should help you in understanding the client’s view but also save you from losing the creative edge. An idea which is not creative will not sell. If it sells, it will never give you the satisfaction. So, never lose creativity when you follow the client’s brief.
  • Take risks:Do not let the fear of failing take over you. Be strong enough to take risks. Even if you fail, you learn. When you succeed you have more courage to go ahead. Being creative and taking a risk should go hand in hand. A successful marketing and advertising agency always has stories to tell which revolve around how the risks taken in past paid off and sometimes failed.

Marketing is the aim and advertising is the tool. To reach to the aim the tool is to be used. Creativity is the tool that becomes sharp more and more when used consistently. Hence, to conserve the creativity and sanity at the same time the above mentioned points should be kept in mind.
