Enjoy a Luxury Break In Rome
Posted: Oct 26, 2013
From the Worldhotel Ripa Roma, the Eternal City opens up to reveal itself in all its classical glory. Perfectly situated close to all of the main attractions, the Worldhotel Ripa Roma makes a great base from which to explore the city. This stylish design hotel prides itself on offering its clients a distinctly sophisticated experience, based on excellent service, comfortable accommodation and a relaxing, chic atmosphere.
The Great Sights
It could be argued that this city is a living museum. Everywhere you look there is something indicative of the rich and intricate past that has made it the place it is today. Aside from the Vatican, the Coliseum and the Trevi Fountain, however, there is much to explore in Rome.
If you are looking for a great city museum to visit while you are staying at the Worldhotel Ripa Roma, you must make a trip to the Galleria Borghese. This exceptional museum is made up of 20 rooms in a magnificent 17th century Roman villa, and is home to displays of artefacts from ancient times to the Renaissance and the Baroque era. The highlight of a visit here is definitely the Bernini sculptures, which require a booking slot in an attempt to limit numbers and maximise the experience.
Rome is interestingly known as The City of Seven Hills, but in fact there are many more than that. The Gianicolo to the west of the River Tiber is not included in the seven hills as it is situated outside the ancient city, but, in fact, it is the best one to climb for amazing panoramic views of the city. At the top you are greeted with a serene tranquillity and a simply incredible view of some of Rome’s finest buildings. If you are here at noon, however, be prepared for the canon shot that has been routinely fired everyday since the 19th century to mark the exact time of day. There are several busts of the many heroes involved in the 19th century movements that unified modern Italy dotted along the pathways, and, of course, a large statue depicting Garibaldi on horseback dominating them.
Rome is a great walking city and from the Worldhotel Ripa Roma there are so many great options. Visit Piazza Navona with its bustling atmosphere and then head on to the Campo dei Fiori, with its vibrant food and flower markets. From here, Piazza Farnese beckons and it is here that you can visit a beautiful Renaissance Palace and see two stunning Roman fountains. The Ponte Sisto is a lovely place to take a break and marvel at the stunning vista that spreads out before you. Then, if you make your way back to the Trastavere district where you began at the Worldhotel Ripa Roma, you can join the locals and enjoy a cappuccino or gelato in one of the cafes or bars. This district is simply charming and it is difficult not to be seduced by the local feel of the place. The Romans go about their business in the typical vivacious Italian way and, as a visitor, you are welcomed with open arms.
