Have you every thought of visiting an industrial area, especially a Milk production unit. Anand is such a place where you can experience the whole process of Milk production. Anand houses the very famous Amul. Here is the brief description of the place.

Anand is located between Ahmedabad and Vadodara is an important district. The district is famous due to the milk revolution. This place is the Milk Capital of India. Anand which means "bliss" is truly a source of happiness to many families. In 1947, Gujarat Co-operative Milk Federation Ltd started this journey and now more than 3 million milk producers are into it. This district of Gujarat is truly a blessed one. Even, the place is a home to Anand Agriculture University and Dairy Development Board of India. Amul (Anand Milk Union Limited) the largest diary of Asia is a very big and renowned brand now. Few nearby villages and Anand is also involved in Tobacco leaf farming, thus, giving it another name "the Golden Leaf". Anand is now one of the booming tourist destinations of India. Tourists from all over the world come here to explore the city and experience the milk production process so, there are enough hotels in Anand which offer a comfortable stay to its guests.

It is not a problem to reach the city. The district is roughly 100 kms away from Gandhinagar and 39 kms from Vadodara and 83 kms from Ahmedabad. Vadodara and Ahmedabad airport both are well-linked with flights with other major cities. As few of the National Highways passes through the city, so by road it is very much connected to the rest of the country. Take a taxi, cab or interstate bus it will take you to Anand. Anand has its own railway station. Passengers, as well as super-fast trains from other parts of the country, connects the place. Auto-rickshaws are available as soon as you reach the railway station.

October to December and February to March are the favourable time to visit the Milk Capital. The famous Swaminarayan Mandir is a six-storey temple with many idols. Amul Chocolate factory, Amul Museum, Iskon temple, etc are some of the attractions of the place. You can also spend a day at Dakor, the town lies in the bank of Gomti river and it houses the famous Ranchhodrai Temple The popular Anand Agricultural University and the Vallabh Vidhyanagar have students from all over India. Anand is a great place for an educational excursion.

Anand has a deep-seated history of milk production and revolution. The journey of Amul is a remarkable one. One should really visit this place to understand the importance of a co-operative society in a country like India. Take your family and kid, they will enjoy every bit of factory hopping.
