With the influx of more tourists and devotees, the number of hotels in Garjia has increased since past decades.
An extremely beautiful small hill town, Garjia is a calm and serene place. The spiritual atmosphere calls for a tranquil holiday. Garjia Devi Temple is wrapped in a strong mythological tale. It is believed that during a flood in the River Kosi, the Garjia Devi came floating. Lord Shiva requested her to stay with him here and the Devi moved to its current location. From the days unknown, the villagers spotted the idol of Garjia Devi and a temple was built. The trip to the temple is the most adventurous part. The natural formation of the rock will surprise you. You have to climb steep steps to reach the main temple. Goddess Parvati, Baba Bhairon, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, and Goddess Saraswati all are worshipped here. It is also believed that taking a bath in the holy Kosi washes all the sins.
Garjia is located on NH 121. Ramnagar is roughly 14 km away and Nainital is 75 km. Taxis and buses are available from this place to reach Garjia. Pantnagar is the airport that serves most of the places of Uttarakhand.
Garjia still beholds the essence of a village. The warm hospitality and the friendly people will win your heart. Every year a large flock of devotees comes here to seek blessings from Gajiya Devi. Especially during the festivals like Navaratri, Dussehra, Vasant Panchami, etc., the village and the temple on the cliff is a treat to the visitor's eyes. Garjia is a heart touching place, the fresh air and the holy temple is enough to bring you back again. Travellers most of the time prefer visiting the place with other nearby places. However, the devotees directly come to Garjia and receive blessings from Garjiya Devi.
May be Garjia is a small town and gives a village feel but it is well-developed. Luxury lovers can pick from the list of 3 stars hotels in Garjia for a lavish and recreational stay. Most of the hotels offer a pick and drop service from Ramnagar railway station and bus stand, provided you book room in advance.
