The scenic splendor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands can be witnessed through their serene and exotic white sandy beaches, lush green forests and the visually wonderful marine life. The interesting coral gardens could provide you with just the right reason to visit this wonderful destination.

Geographically, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are a group of islands situated at the juncture of the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. They are a union territory of India and the territory's capital is the Andamanese town of Port Blair.

The Andaman Islands are home to the only known Paleolithic people and the Sentilenese people, who resist attempts of contact by outsiders.

There are 572 islands in the territory, of which 34 islands are permanently inhabited. The flora in the Andaman islands have a tropical rainforest canopy and there are about 2,200 varieties of plants that have been recorded in the area.

The destination is an abundant collection of some very fascinating islands like the very popular and picturesque Havelock Island, the silver and white sand outlined Niel island, the beautiful Long Island, the Baratang Island with its mangrove creeks, mud volcanoes and limestone caves. Diglipur, another fascinating destination, situated at the north of Andaman Islands, famous for its oranges, rice and forest wealth.

A popular historic spot of the territory is the Cellular National Jail, located at the capital city, Port Blair. The jail was used by the British government during their colonial era to imprison freedom fighters and for imposing cruelty on them. The jail was named ‘Cellular’ due to its individual cells created for solitary confinement.

The site has also been converted into a museum with photos of freedom fighters. It also has an art gallery and a library with books on the freedom movement. The infrastructure of the jail also stands out as a very attractive site. A light and sound show is organised every evening which portrays beautifully the whole story of how the cellular jail was built, used and then abandoned.
