Are you looking for the perfect Mediterranean island break? Then why not consider heading to the stunning Italian island of Sicily? Villas for rent are located throughout the island and make the perfect accommodation choice for those wanting to explore this fascinating region in their own time. Famous for its magnificent archaeological sites, active volcanoes and a rich and diverse history, Sicily is just waiting to be discovered.

Book one of the Sicily villas through a specialised travel company and you can be assured the service you receive will be of the highest standard. Companies in the business of renting holiday accommodation carefully choose their villas for their authenticity, design, comfort and convenience. Sicily villas come in a variety of sizes and with options to rent in the tiny hilltop towns, close to one of the bigger cities or right on the beachfront, there will be one to fulfil your holiday desires.

A Typical Sicilian Villa

Many villas are stand alone converted properties that were once Sicilian farms or town houses. Some smaller ones may be part of a resident complex but will have their own entrance and private outdoor area or terrace. For the conversion properties, all modernisation has been done in a sensitive way, taking style and authenticity into account. The accommodation is tasteful, light, spacious and inviting and offers modern furnishings fused with typical Sicilian features, such as terracotta tiles and local ceramics. Many offer either a private or shared pool and, as outside living is a must in Italy, there is always somewhere to sit back, unwind and enjoy the Mediterranean way of life in the privacy of an outdoor eating area. There is no better way to soak up the atmosphere, relax in a gentle breeze and watch the setting of the Mediterranean sun as it dips dramatically below the horizon.

The Etna Experience

The island has so much opportunity to explore and, for the avid walker and adventure lover, Mount Etna is definitely one of the highlights. The volcano stands at 3350m above sea level and is Europe’s highest active volcano; but, unlike other active volcanoes, Etna has a grace and beauty that instils peace and tranquillity rather than anticipation and suspense. The mountain is embraced by the local people and is home to some wonderful walking trails in the summer and great skiing in the winter.

A trek up here will lead you to some of the four hundred craters the mountain boasts, some interesting caverns and past some of the most recent lava flows. Nature lovers will revel in the abundance of wildlife and, with various species of oak, stone pine, beech, birch and many other shrubs, there is much to be explored. As you reach the top of the mountain, the Bove Valley spreads out below, offering a wonderful panorama down to the sea below. The top is more like a moonscape than a landscape and is somewhat humbling in its enormity.

Choosing one of the many wonderful Sicily villas for your next summer holiday offers you and your family or friends an excellent holiday, packed with exiting things to see and do and complemented by a rich, welcoming culture to embrace.
