San Pedro Cevapcici Festival

Cevapcici is a tempting sausage that was brought to San Pedro by settlers from Turkey, the Balkans and into Croatia on its way to the United States. The festival comprises of the judgement of these sausages cooked by the local suppliers and inhabitants. It was started by Susan McKenna and Slobodan Dimitrov, with the view to make this festival a yearly event that encourages San Pedro and the various cultures that mark it their homes. The special guest for this year’s Festival is John Filcich of Festival Records, who "dedicated his life to the conservation and advancement of musical traditions and dances of most of the ethnic groups in California." The 1st Cevapcici Festival was held at Angels Gate Cultural Center. It managed to draw more than 1200 spectators. The goal of the Cevapcici Festival is to encourage the community of San Pedro as a popular terminus, and to broadcast the exceptionally Balkan charisma of this Los Angeles community through its food. The Cevapcici Festival has created wide local support, with the whole community involving the excitement we assume of even a bigger crowd with each passing year. The Cevapcici Festival is considered to be one of the many events that make San Pedro quite special. You will have fun at the event.
