Classification And Application Of Fused Cast Refractories

Fused cast refractory is a kind of refractory produced by melting the raw material, casting and cooling the molten material to form a solidified refractory mass. It is featured with large grain, compact structure, low porosity, high temperature strength, low thermal conductivity and good corrosion resistance.
According to the chemical composition, fused cast refractories can be divided into: Al2O3, Al2O3-SiO2, Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2, ZrO2 and Cr2O3 fused cast refractory.
Al2O3 According to its crystal structure, Al2O3 refractories can be divided into?,? and?-? fused cast alumina block.
? fused cast alumina block is composed of more than 99%?-Al2O3. It has dense structure, high hardness and superior corrosion resistance. It is ideal for the lower temperature zones of the glass melting furnaces It is also an ideal material for Metallurgical Titanium Furnace because the superior thermal stability.
? fused cast alumina block comprises of a majority of? alumina crystals and a slight portion of? alumina crystals in compact structure. The intersected texture of large?-alumina ensures great dimensional stability, great resistance against spalling and high corrosion resistance to alkali vapor. It is the best material for molter crown, port crown,feeder channel,ect.
?-? fused cast alumina block is formed by the compact structure of?-Al2O3 and?-Al2O3 crystals in a most ideal proportion which is approximately 50% and 50% respectively,where intertwined crystals of both materials result in a very dense structure. It exhibits as good corrosion resistance as fused cast AZS under 1350?, but above 1350? it exhibits worse corrosion resistance than fused cast AZS. It is widely used in working tank, feeder channels, superstructures and lipstone, etc.
Al2O3-SiO2 It is made with bauxite. Its crystal phase consists of mullite and corundum. It was used in the glass furnaces in the early period and then replaced by the refractories described later. Now it is seldom used in the glass industry, but usually used as the skid rail block in the steel furnaces.
Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2 It is abbreviated as AZS. According to the ZrO2 content, it can be divided into fused cast AZS 33#, 36# and 41#. It has a intertwined crystal structure of corundum and baddeleyite with glassy phase filled in the gaps. It has great corrosion resistance to glass liquid. It is the most widely used refractory in the glass industry. It is widely used in the glass contact areas as well as the superstructure and regenerator.
ZrO2 It is also called fused cast high zirconia block, consisting of more than 90% baddeleyite crystal and a small amount of matrix glass phase. Due to high content of ZrO2 and almost zero content of Al2O3, it exhibits excellent corrosion resistance and very low blister and stoning potential. It can be used in a wide range of glass furnace, especially high quality and special glass furnaces such as TV glass, Borosilicate glass, Alumina silicate glass, Halogen lighting glass, Opal glass and Fiber glass.
Cr2O3 These refractories generally include Magnesium chrome, chrome aluminum and AZSC (alumina - zirconia - silica - chromium oxide). Magnesium chrome refractory is mainly used in steel furnaces. Chrome aluminum and AZSC are mainly used in the glass industry. Cr2O3 has good corrosion resistance to glass liquid, but it can color glass, so it is only used in colored glass furnaces and fiber glass furnaces where coloring is not a problem.
