If you plan on visiting Kensington while staying in London, you'd be missing out on a lot if you didn't take the time to explore the eclectic range of shops, boutiques and markets in the area. The affluence of the district flows into its extensive retail offerings and makes even the simple act of window-shopping a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

If you have some spare time whilst in the area, make sure you check out these fine establishments.

  1. Harrods - How could you even think of visiting Kensington without taking the time to tour its most iconic department store? Harrods is particularly known for its lavish interior design, and simply visiting this incredible department store becomes a treat in and of itself. The extensive departments in the store each offer a range of upmarket items for the discerning shopper. Harrods can be found on 87-135 Brompton Road.
  2. McKenna and Co – If you're interested in period jewellery or antiques, you will definitely want to pay a visit to McKenna and Co.   3. Nespresso Club – Coffee-lovers who want to find out more about the 'best of the best' beans in the business should schedule in a leisurely visit to the Nespresso Club.   7. Portobello Road Market – You simply could not think of visiting Kensington without exploring the quirky, jumbled collection of stalls and shops on Portobello Road. What makes this particular street market so memorable and enjoyable is not only its own interesting history, but also the sheer breadth of items on sale – from fresh produce and cheap, fashionable clothing to a wide array of antiques and estate jewellery. There are plenty more retail outlets (both large and small) to discover as you wander around Kensington, but these ones will give you a great taste of what's on offer.
