Menorca is a fantastic destination for family holidays. The island is quieter than its neighbour Mallorca, but it has a rugged beauty and is very popular with families because there is so much to see and do here. If you are looking for Spanish villas this year for your family holiday, there are many good reasons why Menorca could be one of the best options. Here are some of the best outdoor activities and attractions to keep the whole family happy in the sun.

Enjoy Some Water Sports

There is no lack of water sports available in Menorca, so once you have chosen one of the Spanish villas available across the island you can look forward to a wide variety of fun activities on the beaches. Head to any of the larger beaches and you'll find plenty of options. Kayaking is a fun activity for the whole family, and the water is perfect for it here; you could also enjoy a spot of sailing or windsurfing, which are also popular.

Go Horse Riding

Horse riding has long been a traditional activity on the island, and families booking Spanish villas here will be able to experience this fun activity for themselves. Riding clubs are found all over the island, and you will be able to explore the rugged countryside of Menorca in the best possible way. Your experience level does not matter, and it is suitable even for quite young children.

Climb Monte Toro

Monte Toro is the highest point on the island. At just 358 metres, it may not be the biggest mountain in the world, however because it is the highest point you will be able to enjoy fantastic views – you can even see to Mallorca on a clear day – and it is a fairly easy climb for the kids. Head to Es Mercadal to start your climb, and once you get to the top you will be able to relax in a café as you take in the views. There is also a 17th century sanctuary still in use by Franciscan nuns.

Have Fun at a Fiesta

If you travel to Menorca at the right time of year, you can enjoy the spectacle of a fiesta. Fiesta season is from June to September and at any celebration you will be able to enjoy a combination of horse riding displays, music, food, fireworks, games and lots of fun. Every town come alive as it celebrates its patron saint, so check for festival dates when you book Spanish villas here.

Enjoy an Active Holiday in Menorca

This is just a taster of the fun things that are available to see and do on your family holiday in Menorca. The children will love it and there are enough outdoor activities to keep them happy for however long you stay, so start thinking about booking your holiday today.
