Montgomery is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Alabama which lies on the east bank of the Alabama River. There are a number of fun things to do in Montgomery Alabama for the family. Among all, some of them are explained below:

Montgomery Zoo

With over 500 animals from five different major regions, all housed in natural as well as barrier-free habitats this zoo is very kid friendly. The exhibits have knee high windows for the little ones to view the animal along with several viewing angles around each habitat. There are a miniature train and a sky-ride allowing visitors to view the animals from behind the trees or above them. The zoo is laid out in a figure-8 shape, which makes it simple to get around between the tigers, lions, and bears. The last tickets can be bought at 4:00 pm with the park closing at 5:30 pm. Since the zoo closes so early, there are a few things in the area you can stop by having fun with at evening. Chisholm Park is situated in the same parking lot as the zoo and a great place for spending some time after the zoo closes. Pizza Hut, Sonic, Subway, Church's Chicken and KFC are situated within half a mile from the gate.

Old Alabama Town

Within walking distance of downtown, Montgomery is Old Alabama Town. It is an authentic nineteenth-century town with homes and buildings that have been carefully restored and are open to the public. You will learn at Old Alabama Town, how early Americans of all backgrounds resided and worked in Central Alabama. Self-guided tours Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last ticket is sold at 3 p.m. though visitors are free to explore until 4 p.m. $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 6 to 18. Free to ages 5 and younger. A 10 percent discount is offered to military, AAA and seniors. There are various fun things to do in Alabama for the family.

Montgomery Riverfront

It is also situated in downtown. Near The Alley, the riverwalk is situated at the historic Union Station Train Shed. Riverboat rides, concerts, events, baseball in Riverwalk Stadium and having access to the river through a boat ramp make this park a fun and interesting place for people of all ages. Take after a day of exploring in a baseball game at the Biscuits Riverwalk Stadium. Montgomery’s minor league baseball team, the stadium has a bounce house, playground and picnic area making this stadium very family friendly.

Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts

This museum features a hands-on kid’s area known as Art Works with more than 40 interactive exhibits. The grounds surrounding the museum offer trails and paths to allow visitors the independence to explore the outdoor sculptures. The grounds have a great picnic area and a bark park. Bring a lunch and the dog.

There are various fun things to do in Alabama for the family. The ASF i.e., Alabama Shakespeare Festival is also situated on the same grounds as the museum. The ASF offers stage side chats, backstage tours, and a Bard Talks. Bard Talks is an informal talk with D. Susan Willis which is the AFS’s Resident Dramaturg.
