If you are planning on getting married soon, then it’s time to choose your reception venue. It’s never too early to look at possible locations because the best ones often get booked, especially on weekends. When choosing a wedding reception venue in Auckland, you have to think about elegance and practicality. Here are some factors to consider.

1. How mobile are your guests?

Even though your wedding day is about you, let’s face it—it’s also largely about your guests. Do your closest friends all have very young children? Are your elderly relatives attending? Then it’s probably not practical to haul them all off to a far-flung location. Don’t worry—there are many beautiful wedding reception venues in Auckland, so you don’t have to go far. Though it’s impossible to please everyone, you should certainly make concessions if it means more of your loved ones can attend.

2. How long is your guest list?

Be sure that the venue can accommodate the group you plan to host. If you are planning for a small wedding, a cosy space with enough seating for 20 to 50 guests will do. For something bigger, book a venue that can seat 100 people or more. Some reception venues can combine two or more rooms for large celebrations.

3. What might the weather be like?

If you plan to get married during the rainy season, go for an indoor reception venue. ‘Indoor’ doesn’t have to be boring or closed-in. Some of the best indoor reception venues in Auckland large and bright windows that allow natural light to come in. You can even book indoor venues with beautiful views of a park or even the Manukau Harbour.

4. How much work do you want (or are willing) to take on?

You might need to do some heavy lifting depending on the location. If you choose to host your wedding reception in a DIY location such as a rustic barn, who will clear out all the hay, carry in the tables, arrange the lighting, or set up the portable toilets? What would your backup be in the case of rain?

For many practical brides, it’s simply more convenient to hold the party in a reception hall that is already well equipped with everything to take care your big day, from setting everything up to post-reception cleanup. Some of the best wedding venues in Auckland take care of everything, from the reception to the décor and catering.
