There was a time when Pune was a great weekend option for the Mumbaikars. But today it has grown like Mumbai, a bustling city. New spots have sprung up between them. There are some charming destinations which offer a relaxing and rejuvenating vacation to the visitors. Well, even if you are travelling from other states, these places are well-connected and can reach any time of the day. Besides, buses the Mumbai to Pune cab service have also increased.   1. Mahabaleshwar: The state's largest hill station is situated here in the Southern Maharashtra. The place was first developed by the British in the 1820s. It is just 120 km southwest of Pune and 230 km from Mumbai. The pretty hill station, Mahabaleshwar is a great option for a tranquil holiday. Near the bus stand, the stained glass Christ Church is one of the attractions of the place. Beckwith Memorial which is dedicated to a British general is a popular site as well. This place is also the source of Krishna river and consisted several small and big temples from the past. Except Monsoon, you can visit any time of the year. The evergreen forests are always ready to soothe your mind.
  2. Karjat: via Sion Panvel Expressway Mumbai to Karjat is 64 km and Pune to Karjat via Mumbai-Pune expressway is 100 km. During rains when most of the hill stations shutdowns, Karjat comes alive. Lush green hillocks dotted with rains creates a picture perfect environment. It is a perfect getaway spot from Mumbai to Pune. Trekking to the Buddhist Kondana caves or rafting in Ulhas river, you can choose any of these activities to enjoy the enchanting weather of Karjat. Peth Fort is another attraction of the place.
  3. Lonavala: Now, among the most famous places list from Mumbai and Pune is of course Lonavala. Lonavala and Khandala are two twin cities nestled in the Sahyadri range. The are very beautiful and offers a picturesque view of the Western ghats. A great destination for monsoon as well, Lonavala produce some very delicious Chikkis too. The environment here is enticing. The lush green and the awesome colour combination of the surroundings make Kamshet look like a painting on a canvas. Pune to Kamshet is only 47 km and Mumbai to Kamshet is 101 km.
