Manali - a Package Full of Bliss
Posted: Nov 18, 2015
India’s favourite honeymoon destination, Manali is a hill station that nestles on the Beas River in Himachal Pradesh. This jewel in the himalayan crown is a haven of everything that makes it an ideal tourist destination. Be it the weather, the sceneries, the sights and spots, the adventure sports, or even the food; Manali has got the right ingredients that make it a package full of bliss.
Thinking of snow-capped mountain peaks, skiing, adventure camps set in a valley that looks no less than a painting straight from the collection of Monet? Well, Manali is the best pick that would give a generous helping of all these to satiate the need for that "jaunt of bliss." Here are some highlights that give small cues to make the Manali experience even more delightful.
Beas River
Out of the many places to visit in Manali, Beas river is the most inevitable part of a trip to this place. According to travellers, it seems as if the Beas follows them wherever they go in Manali, since Beas forms the longest river trail along the Manali highway. And yes, if planning to go river rafting in the Beas, strictly follow the instructor to avoid any mishap, since Beas has a heavy water flow. Stay safe!
Hidimba Devi Temple
This wooden hermit is the only temple of the Hindu Goddess Hidimba. Inundated with a lush green forest and towering trees, this quaint place is a marvel in the mountains, and one of the most frequented places to visit in Manali. Avoid visiting in peak seasons as the queue to the temple can be a bit unbearable to stand.
Manikaran Gurudwara
This Gurudwara has a spring that emanates steam and the water is so hot that people here are often seen boiling a bag of rice in it in mere 10 minutes! This naturally hot spring is bound by the utter cold Beas river and the amalgamation of both the waters is just phenomenal. Moreover, the community food (langar) served in the Gurudwara is prepared in large cauldrons that are heated in the same hot spring. A must visit place to get the vibe and experience.
Solang Nallah
This gorge in the heart of Manali is for the adventurous souls. Best time to visit this place is from April to July when one can actually relish adventure sports like paragliding, zorbing, skiing, etc. The views from the top while gliding can steal away some breaths for sure.
Jogini Waterfalls
It takes a trek of around 90 minutes to reach this gorgeous natural wonder. One can even shop for some popular woollen souvenirs from around this spot.
Accommodation isn’t a big problem since Manali has seen an outburst of tourists swarming in from all parts of the country in the last 10 years due to which some 800 to 1000 places for lodging are available. One can even try the Oyo rooms in Manali, which offer fabulous deals in pocket friendly rates.
So plan, pack up, and enjoy that "jaunt of bliss" in Manali.
