Les Menuires is one of the undiscovered smaller resorts of the Three Valleys, which itself is one of the most incredible ski areas in the world. Booking a holiday to go skiing in Les Menuires is one of the least expensive ways to enjoy the area. It is a purpose built resort that in the past has been dismissed for its lack of aesthetic Alpine features, but one that today is fighting back to make its mark. Offering wonderful skiing and snowboarding opportunities and access to the largest ski area in the world, skiing in Les Menuires has much to offer.

Skiing For All

The wonderful thing about this resort is that it suits skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. With a great mix of 12 gentle green runs, such as La Violette and the nursery slopes accessed by the Doran chair lift combined with a generous amount of reds and blues, every ability is catered for here. The runs into resort are long and sweeping and take you through some spectacular scenery.

Christmas in Les Menuires

If you are planning to go skiing in Les Menuires around Christmas time this year, you are in for a real treat. There is nothing quite like spending Christmas in the snow, overlooked by the stunning La Masse peak that during the day is bathed in a wintery light that is only enhanced by the golden December sunshine, and during the night is lit by the crystal glow of the moon. Les Menuires is nestled into the stunning Belleville valley and from its cosy location on the lower slopes you get wonderful views of the famously magnificent Cime de Caron glacier.

The streets in Les Menuires are lit up by seasonal lights and decorated with all things Christmas. Christmas trees sparkle and the winter wonderland scene unfolds as you walk through the centre. In the distance, the lights twinkle from the Reberty 2000 chalets as well those hidden away in Les Bruyères. Indeed, every corner of the town becomes a veritable winter wonderland. Mulled wine and hot chocolate flow and if you are staying in a chalet, you can look forward to evenings spent by roaring log fires and hearty home cooking, accompanied by Christmas frivolities such as mince pies, roasted chestnuts, Christmas cake and even crackers too.

The Descend of Santa

The town itself hosts several Christmas festivities, the main event being the torchlight descent, which sees Santa and his elves ski into the town in a special display. Father Christmas then stays around for the children to visit. Alongside the arrival of Santa there are children’s shows and entertainment, concerts and free mulled wine and snacks.

The best thing about skiing in Les Menuires at Christmas is that the lifts are open on Christmas Day itself. Imagine being able to spend Christmas Day on the slopes? It really is an experience not to be missed. You might even spot an odd Santa or two out enjoying a ski too!

So, if you are planning to go skiing in Les Menuires, why not think about spending Christmas there too. It will make your skiing holiday extra special and one that the family will always remember.
