The Game of Polo gets a Royal Touch at the HVR Baroda Cup Polo Tournament, 2015

Jaipur Polo Grounds in New Delhi was a perfect venue which hosted the harshvardhan Baroda Cup, with a lush, green surface playing an ideal support to the feet of the horses. The entire ground bathing in sunshine was a spectacular sight, being watched by those coming from the elite societies. Personalities like Neelam Pratap Rudy, who was spotted wearing a Tilak, was among those present.

It was on Saturday, the 7th of November, 2015, when the game of Polo received a royal touch with the finals of the hvr Baroda Cup Polo tournament taking place at the Jaipur Polo Grounds, Delhi. The annual polo tournament finals had everything which gave it a royal grandeur, with Princess of the royal family of Baroda, Asharaje Gaekwad and Harshavardhan Reddy playing the role of hosts.

The esteemed presence of Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and members of the political circle of Jaipur together with the finest polo players in India representing the event, made the afternoon an enjoying one. The afternoon started with an exhibition match between the teams representing Maharaja Fateh Singh Gaekwad sports foundation and HVR Baroda Cup, which marked the first game of the Fall Winter season for 2015.

Sarah Ferguson was highlighted by the commentators for her presence and she reciprocated by saying that she was attached to the game of Polo right from her childhood, when she used to witness her father playing this royal game.

Other esteemed guests who were present that afternoon included Jyotiraditya Madhavrao Scindia, MP, Designer Reynu Taandon, Cricket commentator Gautam Bhimani, Rajeshwari Raj Laxmi from Jaiselmer, designer Pawan Sachdev, Dr. Pravej Ali Ahmed, Jewelry designer Pooja Vaswani, Interior designer Parull Mahajan and quite a few others, who made the royal occasion an event to remember.

She commended the game of Polo being an extraordinary outdoor sport, and added with a touch of humor, that both her daughters are followers of the game, and whenever they came back from a game of polo, their attire was found stinking with the smell of horses. This tournament continues to be hosted by harshavardhan reddy and Princess Asharaje Gaekwad, and is considered to be one of the prominent tournaments in the game of Polo.

Teams representing Jindal Panther and Sona Polo played in the finals, which was won by Jindal Panther’s team, the match ending with a score of 8-5. While players like Mr. Simran Shergill, Mr. Miguel Saravia, Naveen Jindal, and Mr. Pratap Singh Kanota represented Jindal Panther, key players who represented Sona Polo comprised of Mr. Sunjay Kapoor, Mr. Bhawani Singh Kalvi, Mr. Salim Azmi, and Mr. Abhimanyu Pathak.
