Vital Things to Take on Any Holiday

When travelling abroad, there is a whole list of things that you need to do before you board a plane, and seasoned travellers will be able to go through this check list almost automatically: booking single trip travel insurance, finding accommodation and booking buses, trains and planes. By having a checklist to help you get through your tasks you can ensure you get everything done that needs to get done before you go. The same thing goes with a packing checklist. By creating a list you'll be able to be certain that everything you need will be in your suitcase when you depart. Among other things, this list suggests you bring records of your single trip travel insurance, bring appropriate clothing, and things like extra batteries for your camera.

What to Pack:

  • Appropriate clothing: By doing a bit of research before you go, you can be sure of packing the best clothing for your trip. If you're travelling to a country with conservative standards of dress, be sure to pack accordingly. If you're going to be spending time outdoors, or in a cold climate, you might want to invest in some good outdoor gear.
  • Proof of family or single trip travel insurance: In case something happens (such as stolen luggage or iPods, or accident or injury), you'll want to have your single trip travel insurance policy number ready. This will help expedite your claim and be sure you have access to medical care.
  • A Good Guide Book: A good guidebook can mean the difference between a good holiday and a great one. Depending on what you're interested in, there are different guidebooks that you should check out. Frommer's and Rick Steve's books are great for classic cuisine and focusing on monuments and museums, while Time Out guides are usually good for information on youth culture and night clubs.
  • Extra Batteries for your Camera: A charger might not be enough. When you're travelling, you might not have ready access to an outlet when your batteries are running low, meaning you may miss some amazing photo opportunities. And when you get the chance, charge up both sets of batteries – ensuring you are always prepared for long excursions with ample opportunity to take photographs.
  • Phone and Computer chargers: One thing that many people forget to bring (and which is harder to replace than a toothbrush or bedroom slippers) is their charger. This might be a phone charger, a computer charger, or both, but forgetting to bring it might mean that your phone and computer are out of commissions for the entirety of your trip since it can be hard (and expensive!) to find replacements for these things.
