This community celebrates marriage with such immense joy that it makes the person who is a part of them feel a whole different experience. Mangni: This is a pre-wedding ceremony where the bride and the groom exchange rings and it is considered to be the beginning of their relationship. This ceremony also cements the fact that the two families have mutually consented for the marriage.

Haldi and Mehendi: This is also a pre-wedding function where the bride and groom are applied with haldi over their forehead, cheeks, hands and legs, it symbolizes the blessings of the elders and the Mehendi ceremony is held for the bride at her house where she is applied henna on both hands, it is said the color of the henna symbolizes the grooms love for the bride. Ganesh Pooja: In this ceremony the bride and the groom offer prayers to lord Ganesha seeking his blessings for a fruitful and successful relationship.

Jaimala: This is the first and foremost main ceremony of the wedding day. In this ritual the bride and the groom exchange garlands and place it around each other’s neck.

Madhupak: This ceremony depicts the respect of the bride’s father towards the groom by offering the groom yoghurt and honey.

Kanyadan: This is one of the most important ceremonies where the bride’s father gives away his daughter’s hand to the groom depicting that he has given the responsibility of his daughter to the groom.

Havan: In this the bride and the groom give their commitment to each other in front of the fire god.

Gathbandhan: by tying the ends of their clothes together the bride and groom are said to have promised each other love and faithfulness for eternity.

Mangalphera: In this ritual the bride and the groom circle the sacred fire four times in clockwise direction.

Saptapardi: The seven steps taken around the Havan are the vows said by the couple to each other symbolizing their commitment throughout their life.

Sindoor: The sindoor or red vermillion is applied by the groom on the bride’s hair partition as a sign of welcoming her into his life.

Aashirwad: & lastly the married couple seek blessing from all the elders of their family to wish them a happy life full of joy and happiness.
