There are no fixed rules to design a space as it will accord individual designer’s choice. Therefore, an Interior Design Idea is a unique equation that has limitless options and designs. There can be classifications on a broad range, but it is impossible to create a standard rule design. An idea for any space to be designed is based on various factors. Many specifications and general guidelines can be laid out, enlisted as follows:
FOR RESIDENTIAL SPACES
Generally, for a house, the design is specified in accordance to the type of furniture, orientation of the house, amount of ventilation and light, architectural style in which it is constructed, the climatic factors, user’s preferences and the budget provided by the client. An example can be addressed to understand the above mentioned factors i.e. suppose a client has a wife, 2 kids and his parents in his family. He lives in Himachal Pradesh, which is a cold state and has medium range for the budget. For the initial steps, the architecture of the house and its orientation would be studied. Wooden houses are local architecture; therefore we must keep in mind the fixed texture of wood.
The elements existing and fixed must be kept in mind in order to make them go in sync with the new proposed design. Orientation will decide the amount of light in various rooms in their specific directions. North facing rooms can be painted with dark colours as the rooms will have light for most of the time and vice versa. Furniture and colours of walls, curtains, and other things must be belonging to a colour scheme. The choices must be made keeping in mind the will of the client.
FOR COMMERCIAL SPACES
Commercial spaces require different setup and it must portray the essence of professional working environment which suits majority of the users. That is the reason Neutral Colour Scheme is a common choice for the fabric furniture, curtains and walls. These choices create a serene and sincere aura around the space and helps cultivates a calm and motivated demeanour to anyone who walks in.
FOR PUBLIC SPACES
Public spaces must have a taste that people from all levels of society can relate to. The presentation output must be attractive, colourful and speak clear for its purpose. Graphics and signage can be used in numerous ways to enhance the functionality of the space. Functionality and services play most important role in public spaces and aesthetics must not disturb any of the elements. Aesthetics must be incorporated such that these factors function better and help the structure to add the green levels to it. For this matter, natural factors like light, air and other natural features can be added in design features.
