If you are a traditional holiday enthusiast then you probably spend hours writing out Christmas cards, addressing the envelopes, applying the stamps and then mailing them out to every friend and family member you have in your address book. Here are a few tips on making this holiday task a little easier.

Christmas card mail-outs are routine for companies and individuals who think that it is worthwhile to say ‘Merry Christmas’ to those in their address book and touch base for the holiday. Depending on the size of your list, this can be quite an undertaking especially for one person so there needs to be other ways to get the job done more efficiently and easily.

-Be creative in your Christmas card because there is nothing written that says it has to look the same every year or have a picture of a snowy scene. In some groups, there are contests on who can come up with the best design and idea such as movie themes, cartoon characters or a funny way to send the season’s greetings. If you have a smaller company, then get everyone involved and make this part of your business Christmas tradition to keep morale high and employees interested in making a lasting impression on the clients.

-Buy your Christmas cards early or have them pre-printed by a special company so that you only have to write a brief personal message if you so choose. Instead of signing each card, have a signature stamp created or check with the copy company to see if they can apply digital images that look like signatures. This is especially helpful if multiple individuals need to have their names on the card. A different idea would be to create a ‘photo signature’ instead of a written text just as a way to brighten the card up and set it apart from everyone else’s.

-Instead of handwriting addresses it is more efficient to purchase small address labels from a reliable online vendor along with the appropriate template and print these at the office. You can make them as festive as you want or include a unique logo from your company to make the card stand out from all the other ones the recipient is sure to get this season. Simply download the template that matches the labels you ordered, put them in the printer and then let the computer do the rest of the work for you. Address labels are easy to type up on the computer and can be saved for other events or next year’s mail-out.

A professional postage meter or post office may be able to apply ‘postage’ automatically instead of having to apply stamps to each individual envelope but this is something you should check on early in the season. Books of stamps are expensive and you shouldn’t need to have someone sitting and affixing stamps for an entire shift. For personal mail-outs, it is better to check with a copy place or post office and see what kind of assistance they can provide. Remember to take into account any card that is traveling outside the country and make sure that it gets special attention.

Staying in the holiday spirit is important for personal relationships and good for keeping business contacts fresh and renewed. Take advantage of the above tips to get this monumental task accomplished in time to have everything in the mail and received before Christmas Day.
