The concept of Meals on Wheels is most generally a paid program for the elderly that are unable to hire cooks or are not able to cook for themselves. The program offers to deliver cooked meals to their doorstep, which will need to be warmed up or on occasion just needs to be defrosted.

  1. It started with the Women’s Volunteer Service for Civil defense that provided food to people, who had lost their homes during the wars or lost their basic civil amenities during natural calamities such as a hurricane or a storm.
  2. Often times these meals are specialized according to the need of the elderly and made according to the head restraints that may be imposed on the diet.

Popular in many countries, the country has been tailored according to the needs and the legal laws and regulations of each country. Many of those, who cannot afford to stay in an old age home avail for this program and have their services offered to them for free or with donations that are preceded to the companies that carry out these operations.

The country currently, like it’s comrade down under, also has an extensive network where each delivery is made on schedule.
