It's a brave new competitive World and everyone wants top-of-the-line services at rock bottom costs. Sure we get that. But have you heard that "you only get what you pay for?" meaning removalists services that provide you a ridiculously low quote will usually include just the truck and precious little else. On the day of the move you are faced with either cancelling the removalist service or paying a lot more than you intended to.

So what is a reasonable price for professional removalist service in Sydney?

Reasonableness is when the removalist has several ready-to-select, customer friendly plans that include everything from moving a small studio apartment to moving a large 4+ bedroom apartment or house. Each plan should be appropriate for the service being offered and the probably volume of the material to be moved.

Do they have just one or two truck sizes or do they have almost every truck size? Do they provide just the truck or will the removalist service provider send their staff as well? What about the boxes and packing material? Is that included or will that be optional? Finally check out the fine print especially the one attached to the "FREE UNLIMITED Boxes" bait.

Surprised? Reasonableness is when the removalist (e.g. http://www.furnitureremovalistservices.com.au), inform you upfront that each box requires a $5 deposit which will be returned if the boxes are returned undamaged. How many removalists tell you that upfront?

In our experience, most of the time the boxes at the bottom of the vehicle and carrying heavy items tend to get damaged. So all told, you can expect between 5 and 10 boxes (large sized move) to be damaged and non-returnable.

Furniture Removalist Service based at Sydney but are available through their branch offices and affiliates all over Australia. They offer a flat $1,000 discount to customers booking their premium interstate service at least a month in advance. They have other offers too and you can check out the latest at their informative website. But best of all, if you are moving a very small studio apartment with hardly anything in it, you might want to go for their 1-man-and-a-van offer at just $46 (assuming that the entire move can be done within an hour or two). Now how reasonable is that?

And here's a secret that most will not tell you – if you require an interstate removalist service from Sydney or anywhere in Australia, ask the removalist for something called the "Removals Sydney" option.

There are many removalist service vehicles that come into Sydney and other Australian cities on a daily basis. These vehicles must return back to the base of operation. Now if they can get a customer or two on their return journey they are happy to provide a hefty discount. This is known as "Backloading". True, your stuff may share space with other stuff belonging to other customers but does it matter as long as the boxes containing your material are all properly labelled and arrive safely at the destination and in time? The Removalist will provide you the boxes, staff help to pack and load i.e. everything else stays the same. It's like sharing a cab.

Reasonableness is a relative term. Keep your eyes opened and you will do just fine.
