Trichy, also known as Thiruchirrapalli is in Tamil Nadu and very close to the river Kaveri. This little town was ruled by the Cholas in the 3rd Century. Apart from the Cholas, it was also ruled by Pandya, Pallavas, Nayaks and the Vijanagar Empire. The most prominent landmark of Trichy is the Rock Fort, the Ranganathan Swamy Temple in Srirangam.
