Uttarkashi, a small town that holds an unmistakable lure

Surrounded by a long chain of snow topped mountains on the northern side, Uttarkashi is situated at a height of 1158 mts. As delightful Garhwal locale Uttarkashi is the place that is known for holiest of journeys of Hindus. Gangotri and Yamunotri flow here making the more religious. Inside of the limits of this hill town, it houses the spots where of two holiest rivers of India, Ganga and Yamuna, originate. Attributable to its profound established religious association, the hilly region is otherwise called 'Devbhumi'.
Uttarkashi effectively enamors the guest's with the appeals of its snowcapped hills and greenery at the base and in regions around, terraced slopes, lakes, springs and waterfalls, pleasant climate. There are numerous temples here that you can visit amid your tour, and out of these, Vishwanath temple simply catches attention. It is one of the prime pilgrimages and tourist attractions in Uttarkashi around 300 mts from the nearby bus stand. An antiquated temple, it is said that it was first built by the Lord Parasurama., himself. Later, it was remodeled by Maharani Khaneti, wife of Sudarshan Shah. The temple houses a huge Shivling. Nobody misses this sacred place of worship on their outing to Uttarkashi.
The spot is also eminent for its warm springs and the perspectives of Himalayas that it offers. It lies on course to Gangnani. It is a perfect spot to ponder in light of the quietness that abides here. The spring here is called Rishikund, and offers an opportunity for a reviving shower to the travelers going to Gangotri. Closeby is another temple devoted to sage Parasara.
Shakti Temple sits opposite to Vishwanath temple. A major Trishul is the focal point of fascination in the temple. It is 6 meters in stature and 90 cms at the base. Distinctive individuals hold diverse perspectives about the trishul, it is generally conceived that the trishul is made of iron in the upper part and copper in the lower part. The legends say that goddess Durga threw the trishul at demons, as per one of the popular tales of Hindu mythology. There also exists Govind National Park in close vicinity to the sacred temple. Rich with diverse and some rare flora and fauna, the national park is just worth visiting.
In the meantime, a popular spot that is quickly picking up trend amongst tourists is Har Ki Doon, situated at an elevation of 3506 meters. The spot is known for its well known treks, it offers its trekkers a sensible trek among thick woods and a rocky scene.
Last but not the least, thirteen kilometers away there is a wonderful vacationer spots close Uttarkashi called Maneri. The spot has of late risen as a vacation spot on account of a dam being established here on River Bhagirathi. The water from here is bolstered through a 8 km long passage to turbines at Uttarkashi. A lake is framed in view of the dam at Maneri which now counts amongst the best places to visit in Uttarkashi, indeed has added to the excellence of the spot.
