Far from the bustle of a typical maddening city and set amidst the pristine nature, is the city, Mandvi, in the heart of the Kutch district of Gujarat. Vijay Vilas Palace: This royal palace stands proudly across the beach of the city. With various movie scenes shot here, like the major scenes of ‘Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’ and Commando, including the advertisements of Gujarat tourism by Amitabh Bachchan, the royal palace is bound to apparate you to the princely world of the bygone era.
It stands out from the vast green stretch of various gardens and moors, which makes it aesthetically charming. The architecture of the palace speaks for itself; so it’s a perfect place for the history buffs, photographers, architects and peace-seekers. The palace is now resided by the last family of the Princely State of Kutch.
The palace also has its own private beach, known as the Mandvi Beach, with air conditioned tents, which makes it an adorable spot to spend a vacation. This beach is soaked in utmost serenity and peace. One can sit by the beach side and relax among the roaring sea waves and in the warmth of the sun. An excellent spot for bookworms as well as couples, it is a must visit place, every time you visit Gujarat.
The area around the beach, in Mandvi itself, is known for its silverware, handicrafts, Kutch embroideries, tie and dye sarees, Bandhani cloth printing and shellwork. So, you can have a wide choice of things to take back home as memories.
Rukmavati Bridge: A little wandering on the Rukmavati Bridge will make you believe that Old is really Gold! It is built on the Rukmavati River and is the longest existing structure of its kind in India, till date. It was built by Vishram Karman Chawda in 1883. Must visit it to experience the pristine nature and feel the sweet light breezes.
Jain Temple (72 Jinalay): Among these amazing places to visit in Mandvi, there is this ravishing temple, the Jain Temple, made entirely of white marble. It has 72 temples in the circle, while in the centre lies the main temple. You are bound to be enthralled by the tidiness and peaceful aura of the temple. It also has accommodation facilities in the Dharamshala, so you can plan to stay there.
