http://www.designpresentation.co.uk Assembly Drawings are the drawings made by using Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) to show how different parts of the machine are assembled in order to make a system. These drawings are tailored for assembling parts as well as to use at the time of maintenance of the system. But not a single drawing can serve all the purposes of the assembling. Different types of drawings are made for different purposes.

All these drawings are made using the software AutoCAD, which is the native of CAD. This software is able to facilitate many features while drafting the drawing. These are fully editable as well as they can be created into the desired number of layers. This helps to view various aspects of the drawing separately. This software can create every type of drawing like Outline or Setting Drawings, Erection, Assembly Working, Diagram, Part Assembly, and General Assembly Drawings etc.

The first drawing called outline and setting drawing is used for illustrations and catalogs as well as to show the outline of the machine to the customer. These are provided with machine outline but no details, only the center distances and over-all dimensions are shown. It is applied in the case when only the general appearance of the machine is needed.

Erection is the drawing which is used while assembling the system. Therefore, each part of the system is named and numbered so that the proper location of each part and exact order can be found easily. Third is Assembly working and this is used when a few number of machines needed to be built. This is done to facilitate the mechanic to get every detail of the machine at one place, so that he does not need to refer various sheets in search of details. This type of drawing is mostly used to save the time in the drafting room.

A Diagram is made to show only sectional or external view of the entire machine. Fifth type is Part Assembly and it is made for only few parts of the machine. This is used to show the relation of parts with other parts and also with entire system. In last General Assembly is made to illustrate the designing of the complete system. This is used to show all the dimensions as well as the relation of various parts of the machine with each other. In a nutshell assembly drawings are made according to the needs of the user.
