Kalka, situated at the foothills of Himalayas is a town in Panchkula District, Haryana. The town has lots of wholesale shops which makes it favourite destination of shopaholics. Now let's see the places that one can visit in and around Kalka during their short stay.

On its south is Pinjore having beautiful Pinjore Gardens comprising of seven different terraces built by Nawab Fidai Khan during the reign of Aurangzeb and on its north is Parwanoo having the ever-popular Cable Car which takes us on an enchanting uphill journey and ancient Ashapurni temple where Havan was performed by Devtaas for getting rid of demons. It is considered as a gateway to the state of Himachal Pradesh. The most ancient and popular Kalkaji Temple is the main attraction here visited by hundreds of devotees everyday. It is believed to be built by Pandavaas during their ‘Agyaat Vaas' stay here. Bhima Devi Temple is another ancient and interesting place to visit which again was built by Pandavaas. Although the temple is no more there because of muslim invasions, the last one being by Aurangzeb, but sculptural and architectural remnants of various God and Goddesses and age-old inscriptions displayed at the museum prove that the place must have been of high importance during its time. Another excavated site of Balaji temple where childhood incarnation of God Hanuman is worshipped is very popular. The beauty and massiveness of the temple has to be seen to be believed making it one of its kind. The Toy train from Kalka to Shimla too attracts tourists to come to visit the city and its getting passed through 102 tunnels makes it all the more interesting. The Kalka-Shimla highway is now a World Heritage site.
