If you have always wanted to explore more of Europe but wonder how you would do it with the children in tow, take some of our destination suggestions on board. There are so many wonderful places in Europe that will excite the kids just as much as they will impress you. With careful planning and a good family travel policy, your trip could include any number of activities, including excursions to ice caves, train journeys and much more.

Here are our tips on how to get the most out of your European trip when travelling with your kids.

Train Trips

England has some fabulous places for both kids and adults to enjoy. Why not take the family on a day trip on the Belmond Northern Railway? Designed to replicate the railway cars of the 1930s, the train takes you from cities in the UK to stunning countryside destinations in England and Wales. Some popular destinations include Conwy Castle, Snowdonia National Park, Chester Zoo and Beatrix Potter World in the Lake District.

Thrills and Spills in Iceland

When taking your family on any kind of adventure holiday, you need to make sure that your family travel policy is up to date. A trip to the Ice Cave in Iceland is a very exciting visit for the whole family. From June 2016, families will be able to ride on modified eight-wheel trucks that make their way up Europe’s second largest glacier, known as Langjökull. There will also be the opportunity to hike to the heart of the beautiful ice cave right inside the glacier itself. Kids and adults alike will enjoy this thrilling adventure that also includes visits to Hraunfossar Waterfall and þingvellir, the stunning national park.

The Emerald Isle; Ireland

Ireland is often overlooked as a potential holiday destination but when travelling with kids, it has much to offer. Ballyfin is a luxury hotel on a Georgian estate just outside of Dublin. Offering carriage rides, boating on the lake, picnics, fishing and archery, there is something for everyone here.

Relax in Germany

Schloss Elmau has the perfect combination of relaxation for the adults and activities for the kids. With two spas that cater to children, a football camp and lots of different swimming pools, you can easily spend a few days here without ever having to leave. Set in the gorgeous scenery of the Bavarian Alps, the hotel is close to the castles of King Ludwig II, magical mountains and mesmerising scenery. As long as your family travel policy is in date, you won’t have anything else to worry about when being based at this charming retreat.

Fun for the Adults Too

The Acropolis Museum in Athens has recently taken advantage of the fact that everyone loves Lego. With a scale model of the Acropolis ruins constructed from the world’s favourite building blocks, the museum is definitely worth a visit.

Europe is a fabulous destination to explore as a family, and you can guarantee that if you book wisely the kids will enjoy it as much as you do. What are you waiting for? Get that family travel policy sorted and book a holiday to look forward to now!
