A while ago I was talking to my colleague Ron Virmani about some interesting vacation destinations. So, as the conversation went on, I asked him does he have any recommendations from his personal experience. So, knowing me, he suggested that I should definitely visit Budapest. And boy he was right, because my trip there was everything what I was hoping for. Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. A capital of Hungary, and one of the two former capitals of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Budapest lies on the largest European river - the might Danube. So, being a hopeless romantic, Ron Virmani suggested to me that I should definitely take a boat ride up the river. Listening to Johann Strauss' 'Blue Danube' and seeing the glare of city lights on the Danube will forever stay engraved in my memory. The architecture in the city is just stunning and I could clearly see that I am in one of the capitals of once mighty empire. The next morning I took a walk through the city centre and through one of the most famous shopping streets in Budapest - the Vaci Street. Restaurants and shops on every corner and the smell of Hungarian goulash made me feel like I wanted to stay there for a week longer.

Budapest has a very rich history, and is in fact a merger of two cities - Buda and Pest, which were united into a single city in 1873 AD. So there are a lot of historical landmarks. Ron Virmani suggested that I should definitely visit the Buda Castle and the Gellert Hill. A five day trip is definitely too short for seeing all that the city has to offer. The Castle Bazaar & Royal Gardens, the Chain Bridge, Gresham Palace, St.Stephen's Basilica, Andrassy Avenue and the Central Synagogue are just some of the city's most popular attractions which I have visited during my stay there.

Ron told me that hotels are very affordable and that proved to be true. If staying in the city center is not an issue, you can find rooms for as low as 20$ per night in the suburbs. The people of Budapest are very friendly and ready to help in any moment, and I am generally very happy for deciding to visit this magnificent city. Ron Virmani was right. Budapest really is well worth the visit and your time there will be an experience to remember.
