Hair fall is one of the most common health problems that people face every now and then. Though home based methods can resolve these problems at the initial stage, they may not be able to provide a lasting solution to these issues and ensure hair growth. Here are some treatments by hair specialists in Mumbai that you can undergo to get rid of hair problems: -

Follicular Unit Micrografting by hair specialists in Mumbai

Strip technique is a traditional method which is applied to treat people suffering from advanced thinning. It is ideal for people who intend to acquire maximum hair coverage with least inconvenience. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) is a method of hair restoration in which a patient’s hair is transplanted from naturally occurring areas of 1 to 4 hairs and are known as follicular units. This treatment is performed by a team of hair specialists who are headed by a surgeon, who guides others in cutting and placement. The grafts are placed by other members of the transplant team.

Patients are suggested to take a light breakfast early in the morning and avoid taking anything orally following that. They will need to take the prescribed medication and apply medicated shampoo on their scalp. The patient will be made to sit comfortably on a chair and his pulse rate and blood pressure will be calculated. An IV line will then be secured. During the early stage of treatment, the chair will be totally flattened and the patient will be asked to keep his face down while lying down.

After making the patient feel comfortable, the doctor will inject a local anaesthetic to the back of patient’s head. Ice packs and vibratory tools will be then used to reduce the pain. Once the patient feels numb, the doctor will use a scalpel to remove a strip from the donor area in small sections and then hand it over to his assistants to dissect it. By taking out the strip part by part, he will ensure that too much time isn’t consumed. He will close the donor area with stitches while his assistants perform the dissection.

The donor area will be sutured, and it will leave behind a thin, invisible line surrounding which the hair will grow and cover it. This line will become invisible and won’t be detected easily. Once the closure is completed, the doctor will inject an anaesthetic that will act over a long time period in the numb skin below suture area. This will ensure that the patient doesn’t feel any pain for the next 6-8 hours. Following this, the recipient area will be anesthetized in the same manner. During this time, the patient will be given a break to take some refreshments.
