Carpet Cleaning Prices

Experts advise homeowners to clean their carpets annually or even biannually, depending on traffic and degree of soiling, yet most people clean their carpets much less frequently. To make sure the job is done thoroughly, find a reputable carpet cleaning professional who can dry clean or deep clean your carpet with hot water on a regular basis. That way, you avoid potentially dangerous problems like mold, high levels of dirt or other issues that build up and might necessitate pulling up your carpet and replacing it. When you hire a professional carpet cleaning service or solicit quotes from them, you'll notice they charge based on one of two ways: 1. Per Room Rate One pricing structure uses a per room rate, which means they'll clean a carpet -- regardless of the square footage -- and charge you a flat rate for every room in your home with carpet. They might impose a cap on size depending on the carpet cleaning company, which means if the room exceeds a certain square footage, they treat it as two rooms. Make sure they don't inflate the price they charge you, such as by overestimating your square footage. If they charge you too low a price, on the other hand, they could be a poor quality cleaning service. 2. Square Footage Rate Some carpet cleaning services charge you on a square footage basis instead. They visit your home to make the estimate because it requires measurements. If your home is smaller -- a condo, apartment or one- to two- bedroom home -- you'll pay more for this service because of the additional fees for travel and cleaning material expenses. Owners of larger homes will pay less because these will likely be fixed. Typical costs: Chemical cleaning a 900-square foot two-bedroom apartment with about 650-square feet of carpet between the bedrooms, hallway and living room runs $124-$240. A 1,300-square foot single-story home has about 975-square feet of carpet through three bedrooms, living room and hall and costs$186-$390. A 2,200 square foot two-story home has about 1,700 square feet of carpet between three bedrooms, one living room, two halls and a family room and would average $323-$600. Steam cleaning the same 900-square foot two-bedroom apartment runs $100-$208. A 1,300 square foot single-story home costs $150-$304. A 2,200-square foot two-story home runs $180-$544. Most companies charge a cleaning minimum of $75-$109. Self-service steam cleaning rental machines are available at many locations. The Rug Doctor rents for about $22. Cleaning solution concentrates are about $13 per half gallon. Spot cleaners are $4and odor removers $5. Unfortunately price isn’t always a good indication of the quality of the carpet cleaning. When you are researching prices you should consider the following five things: 1. Is the company a professional cleaning company? You DON’T want to use carpet cleaners who aren’t professional in their approach and techniques. They often don’t have the expertise, equipment and chemicals to do a full professional end of tenancy. 2. Is the company reputable and do they have positive customer reviews? Most companies who have good reviews will tell you about them on their website or when you are speaking to them. Look out for this. Its no different to say buying a product on amazon on ebay. 3. Are the carpet cleaners fully insured? This really is a must. Make sure you ask the question and if you are unsure ask to see a public liability insurance certificate. 4. Do their prices include VAT? Some websites don’t include VAT in their pricing and the price you see isn’t the price you get. They may not necessarily be registered for VAT so make sure you ask If you’re having your whole house carpet cleaned the cost can run into the hundreds of pounds, so do your research and make sure you talk to the company you are thinking of using. Even a short 5 minute conversation about how they will carry out the carpet cleaning and their experience will often highlight things that may cause you problems further down the line. Most reputable companies will have reviews from independent third party sites. Don’t listen to reviews that have no association with independent sites as the company may have written the reviews themselves.
