We all love our pets, but sometimes it could be quite hard for us to clean after them. Not to mention the carpets and upholstery which are inevitably damaged by their endless games. There are many ways to secure your favourite pieces of furniture and upholstery from their claws and big piles of fur around the house. I personally have a cat, and it could be really hard to maintain the house sometimes. You know how they can sleep all around the house.. I will mention couple of ideas and hints for pet friendly carpets that your pet is going to love, no matter dog or cat, and you’re going to like.

The most important thing to have in mind while picking carpets or rugs for your house, when having a cat is the stain resistance and durability. If you consider these two factors while picking your piece, you will make the right choice for sure.

Materials

As you already know, the most common materials for carpeting are wool, nylon, olefin and polyester. The most popular one is the nylon made ones, due to their durability and highly competitive prices. These are probably the most famous ones for households with pets and children. Some of the specialized pet carpets have are designed to prevent pet stains from soaking through the carpet padding, where the moisture causes bacteria. Carpet tiles are an excellent idea for a quick replacement of damaged sections of the carpet. But if you want to go with a natural fiber carpets the best choice it will be the seagrass rug. They are the best option for cat owners, as cats have a litter box where they can do their stuff.

Colours

A quick hint: Coordinate the colours of your rug with the colour of your pet. After all, if your upholstery and carpet colours are dark and your pet is white or grey, their fur will be more than easy to be seen all over. Light coloured furniture will easily hide pet fur and save a lot of time of using that tool that you can roll on the furniture to remove pet hair. Patterns and colour combinations are definitely your friend in this case. Rugs with different colours are great at hiding small stains, while repeating patterns will disguise footprints and pet hair.

Some people state that the Persian rug is the ultimate choice for hiding pet fur and stains. They are made from resistant wool and they don’t look cheap. Their relatively tight weave means that they will stand up well to cat claws. I personally tend to invest in a less expensive option than Persian rugs, due to the fact that at some point the carpets are going to be damaged anyway, so changing them won’t be a big problem. There are many patterns available on the market today that could be perfect for your interior design at home. When buying a rug or wall – to- wall carpet, always think about the maintenance after that. Anyway, if you have a tight schedule and no time for treating persistent stains, there are many professional carpet cleaning companies which will do the job for you. Don’t forget to treat Persian rugs extremely careful, as they can be quite exquisite and easy to be damaged. Otherwise, try to pick a synthetic made carpet and play on the safe side.
