The Caribbean islands are undeniably beautiful, however many places have become commercialised and a little ‘touristy’ in the eyes of those who prefer a more laidback holiday. On the bigger islands especially, many of the beaches have become now very busy and some out-of-the-way spots offering authentic Caribbean cuisine and experiences have given way to tourist traps with generic, over-priced offerings. Fortunately, however, this is not true of all islands and resorts in the Caribbean. St Lucia, one of the smaller islands between Martinique and St Vincent, remains one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Caribbean. This is not only due to its amazing natural beauty and diverse culture, but also due to the dedication to service and commitment of St Lucia resorts, such as Cap Maison, to making sure visitors have the time of their lives while on their island and leave with memories they’ll treasure forever.Having a great time in St Lucia is practically a no-brainer. Everywhere you look you’ll be bombarded by beautiful sights: gorgeous clear skies, pristine oceans, crystal waterfalls, golden sand, dramatic cliffs, lush tropical mountains and forests, and even an active volcano! You’ll be spoiled for activities, whether its enjoying world-class amenities of resorts such as Cap Maison or exploring the island’s dramatically changing terrain. You can experience the diverse culture by joining in a fiesta, gorging on Caribbean cuisine (be sure to try the curry!), or exploring local points of interest. Here a few suggestions for activities to make your stay in St Lucia unforgettable.Be a pirate for a dayFans of the film will be especially thrilled to experience the Brig Unicorn Pirate Sail, which was the setting for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. With the Brig Unicorn Pirate Sail visitors have the chance to explore a pirate ship as it tours the island. You'll also be able to pretend to be pirates for a while as you jump into the sea from the deck swing across using ropes, and even ‘walk the plank’. Walk into a volcano St Lucia is the only place in the world where you can walk into (or drive through, if you prefer) a geothermally active volcano - Soufrière. A concrete path allows visitors to walk up between bubbling sulphur pools. For safety, you’ll have to stay at least a few feet away from the actual edges of the craters, but you’ll actually be glad to stay away from the heat and the smell! Guest can also opt to take a mudbath in the sulphur springs said to have medicinal properties. These springs are extremely hot and a dip in the amazing pools of the Cap Maison will be more than welcome upon your return. Marry the love of your lifeIn St Lucia, romance is serious business. It has been repeatedly named one of the top honeymoon destinations in the world by both travel and bridal magazines, and has been the setting of romance-focused shows such as ‘The Bachelor’. The island’s breathtaking views provide the perfect backdrop for everything from a romantic interlude to your wedding—the most important day in your life. In fact, some resorts such as Cap Maison even offer proposal concierge services to help plan the perfect proposal, and they offer discounts on wedding and honeymoon packages.
