Picture New York and the images that spring to mind are of towering skyscrapers, the majestic Statue of Liberty, the bustling Manhattan and of the umpteen cafes and restaurants that offer a great delight to one and all. But what makes the destination truly spectacular is its range of offbeat places. Dare to notice these and know the city better.

New York is undoubtedly one of the most visited places in the world. The Big Apple is flocked by millions who come to explore its iconic landmarks and to bask in its myriad offerings. However, the charm of the city extends much beyond its known attractions. It is indeed great fun to discover many hidden gems lying in every corner of the city, away from usual hustle and bustle.

Graffiti Wall of Fame:- Various cans of spray paint are used by creative minds on The Graffiti Hall of Fame. The wonders of colours and thoughts give a new meaning to art. This ever-changing canvas presents in the playground of the Jackie Robinson Educational Complex is indeed a free flowing world of graffiti artists.

Museum of Sex:- This is surely a museum of a different kind and is open for those over 18. With an objective to preserve and present the evolution and significance of human sexuality, the museum offers an array of explicitly erotic exhibits that cover all aspects of sexuality.

Fort Tryon Park:- The city’s most beautiful outdoor piece of art is located at one of the highest points in Manhattan. This scenic landmark is a reassembled chapel lying amidst gardens full of colourful flowers and plants. The Cloisters, a branch of the Metropolitan Museum lies high above its northern grounds. Other attractions include the New Leaf Restaurant & Bar, Heather Gardens and Billings Lawn.

Greenacre Park:- A park with a waterfall in the middle of a bustling city, unbelievable, isn’t it? This green pocket park however, defies all general beliefs. While a 25-foot waterfall is the main feature of the park, the variety of flowers offers a great escape.

Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre:- This theatre off the beaten track is one of the best places to enjoy comedy performances at cheap rates.

Koreatown:- New York has an interesting cosmopolitan appeal. While it is famous for its Little Italy and Chinatown, Koreatown is its lesser known attraction where you can find everything Korean – the atmosphere, the food, the shops and spas.

Hall of Fame for Great Americans:- This outdoor sculpture gallery features a 630-foot stone colonnade and is home to 98 bronze busts including those of Alexander Graham Bell and Eli Whitney. It was designed by architect Stanford White in the neoclassical style.

With direct flights to New York, you can explore these not-so-usual places of the city and enjoy a vacation that goes beyond the beaten attractions.
