Escape rooms are fun-filled activities based on live action games where players are given certain clues and they need to solve the puzzle within a given time limit to unlock the room. These escape rooms contain different demographics, features, patterns etc for rapid growth and evolution of escape rooms. The first escape room was established by SCRAP knew as Real Escape Game in Tokyo, Japan in July 2007 as a single room for 5-6 players. Over the years, the popularity of escape rooms has increased rapidly. These are fun filled opportunities fro refreshment of mind and heart.

When people go for escape rooms, they first meet a game master. Game master summarizes them what will be happening the complete hour during their escape room session. In addition, he provides them with certain clues that help them in solving the puzzle. If the selected puzzle is based on a story and story has a backdrop then related video or pictures are shown to players so that they could get some help while playing.

Players are allowed to explore the room during the game. But they also need to look for clues as time goes on. Clues are usually numbers, symbols, or related pictures but still they do not give many hints for the reason they are locked in the room.

The solution of one puzzle leads to another puzzle. The solution may be anything. It can be a padlock code, or something else. The other groups of people continue to find the left piece of information and shares information on what all they have found.

Escape rooms require teamwork, good communication, delegation, deep thinking and attention to every minute detail. This game involves a large number of players and does not favor any gender. However, the most unsuccessful people at escape games have a lack of communication, knowledge, lack of strategy to solve the puzzle, physical abilities etc.

Escape room game theme-

  • Escape room is a collection of puzzles without a particular theme or a narrative.
  • Escape rooms have a narrative and players are placed into a role into the narrative through some type of video.
  • The puzzles in escape rooms are a part of a narration, and design the puzzles, as they are a part of storytelling. These puzzles cannot be separated, as they are the part of the story.

Although there is, a vast area on a topic that can be set to be used during playing escape rooms. However, some of them are listed as follows’-

  • Traditional word puzzles

  6. Creating room elements that can be reset easily without much pain.
