iOS 10 is in the offing, and its release is touted to be around the same time when apple releases the iPhone 7. Cut off limit for iOS 9 update is iPhone4 and iPad2, for the latest iOS 10 update, the company might put the cutoff on iPhone 5 and iPad 3. However, our concern here is; what changes we want or think are likely in the iOS10 roll out. Let’s have a look:

Interesting New iOS 10 Features

Default 3rd-party Apps

Apple’s default mail, calendar and safari apps are great, but there are many third party apps that handle these features much better. Users like me, will appreciate being able to download a third party application to replace such standard iOS apps. From an iphone and ipad app developers perspective, this is the most important, much desired change, but is the least likely to happen.

Multi-user support

While an iphone belongs to an individual, an ipad may be shared and used by multiple users in a family or at workplace. Multi-user-support for the ipad, is arguably the most desired, yet a long pending feature that I believe, apple will address this time over. If multi-user feature is enabled, users will be able to fully customize their ipad experience by logging in with a unique pin, password or fingerprint authentication.

Greater customization for iOS control center

In a very interesting video https://youtu.be/VmAyIiAu7RU, visual designer Sam Beckett has put together some really intriguing and clever ideas for apple to incorporate. Primary focus here lies on a control center that can be customized by picking, choosing and replacing hardware toggles and application shortcuts. Another interesting improvement is a system wide dark mode. We also hope that the iOS 10 adopts a deeper 3D Touch integration. It will be one of the best changes that can happen to iOS control center.

Smarter Siri:

Siri has become one of the most popular virtual assistant, and we expect Siri to become smarter and more efficient. Apple is already working towards integrating siri onto its operating system, and it would be the most natural step to announce this with the roll out of iOS 10.
