Chicago Attractions that will leave you in speechless

When you think of Chicago, Illinois, you probably think having this city being expensive; however, here are some things to do that won’t put a large dent in your wallet.

Stroll along the Navy Pier which extends over 3, 000 feet.  This wonderland for all ages has parks, a Ferris wheel, promenades along the way, children’s museums and the Smith Museum of Stained Glass, to name some entertainment.  And to top it off, from Memorial Day to Labor Day, you can experience a fireworks show on Wednesday and Saturday nights.

Also during Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Art Institute of Chicago is free to view on Thursday and Friday nights.  Always on display are works of art done by artists all across the globe, including Eva Hesse, Ellsworth Kelly and Marc Chagall.  This building of masterpieces also has exhibits, at different times, which are all focused on specific themes.

Linkoln Park ZooLocated among trees and lagoons, the Lincoln Park Zoo is home to old architecture and world renowned wildlife exhibits.  This free admission zoo is open all year round.  While this zoo doesn’t just have amazing animals to view, there are lots of children’s activities to keep them entertained for hours and hours.

After a day of viewing land animals, go over to the shores of Lake Michigan and experience an underwater world unlike any other.  The Shedd Aquarium is home to over 32, 500 animals from 1, 500 different species.  With the floor to ceiling exhibit windows, you will feel more like an explorer than a guest among the sea.  Among the 500 plus species of reef, you will see sea turtles, sharks, jellyfish and every other shape, color and size that you can dream of.

No trip to Chicago is complete without experiencing the 360-degree views of up to four states from the top of Willis Tower, as known as the Sears Tower.  The 1353 feet tall building is said to be the tallest building in the western hemisphere, you can learn the city’s rich history with the Skydeck interactive exhibits.  Or the inter-daredevil in you, can go on to The Ledge which is four enclosed glass balconies extending four feet outside the actual building, offering views like no other.

The Adler Planetarium invites you to explore outer space while staying on your feet.  Follow astronauts into orbit and experience the night skies.  Learn about current NASA missions, discover the Milky Way and investigate everything in between with there nine exhibitions and multiple theatres.
