It is also self-supported touring. Cyclists carry everything from food, cooking equipment, to tent for camping at night. Some cyclists minimize their load by carrying only basic supplies such as rations, tent and water etc.

5. Mixed Terrain Cycle-Touring:

This type of touring is also called as rough riding. Cyclists travel over a variety of regions within a single route. This type of touring is focused on freedom of travel. Cyclists adapted to ultra light camping approach are more prone to mixed terrain cycle touring.

6. Supported touring

Supported tours are organized independently group of cyclists or holiday companies. In these types of tours, cyclists are supported by a safety motor vehicle along their way. Many professional touring companies sell special packages to organize these tours. French Alps bicycle tours are one example of supported touring. These are more like guided tours in which your hotel booking lodging, luggage transfers, route planning and rental bike are provided by the tour operator.

7. Day Touring:

These rides vary in group size, length of tours, and methods of support. Day touring can be done by solo cyclists or a large group of riders. The length of touring may range from a few miles to long landscape covering rides. These tours are perfect if you want to combine fun and adventure of biking. Their purpose can range from riding just for pleasure, to fitness vacations.

Methods of support can include self-supported day rides, guided tours, and organized rides as that of French Alps cycling tours or self-guided touring. On these tours, cyclists pay for support and accommodation provided by event organizers.
