Traveling can be stressful on your body at any time, especially with different foods, time schedules and climates but to top all of that off with allergies can make for a long vacation.  Here are some cities that you should avoid during allergy season.

Knoxville, TennesseeAt the top of this list is Knoxville, Tennessee.  Researches have ranked this city as having the worst seasonal allergies in the country.  This is based on the pollen count, allergy medication sales and the number of allergy specialists in the area.  The nearby Appalachian Mountains, home to an abundant of native trees, make an allergy sufferers life miserable.  During the peak season in mid-April, no one dare leave the house without lots of tissue on hand.  Followed by the trees, the grass pollen will peak in late spring and then lastly, the pollen weeds are in full force during the late summer to early fall.

Without a doubt, avoiding sneezing on Derby Day is near to impossible in Louisville, Kentucky.  As Louisville was built on what use to be a giant swamp, combined with the warm, moist air makes this bluegrass area a nightmare to function in.  From April to May, the tree and grass pollen attack with a vengeance.

With mild winters and saultering summers, Charlotte, North Carolina is a battle for allergy sufferers year round.  Tree pollen develops in April, grass pollen in May and finally, weed pollen in September but it doesn’t stop there, with the winters in Charlotte being damp, there’s sure to be an outbreak of mould to content with.

Dayton, Ohio is known for its rainy springs, followed by humid summers.  The various trees that line the city’s streets and parks are troublesome for allergy suffers in April.  Then the grass pollen comes in late June, right after the battle of the tree pollen has stopped.

Richmond, Virginia is quite proud of its 40 public parks, including one of the oldest municipal parks in the country.  Since Richmond’s emphasis is on nature and the outdoors that means a high quantity of tree and grass pollen is in the air every spring.

The consistent variations in temperature and humid climate in Madison, Wisconsin means that after a long, dwery winter, comes the trees which burst in bloom without much notice.  Since the tree pollen peaks in late spring, Madison is not the likely place to visit during the Memorial Day long weekend.
