The colourful Spanish city of Málaga is a great holiday destination for anyone looking for a bit of everything. Dazzling beaches, vibrant nightlife, a great Spanish city vibe - Málaga has it all.

The ‘Capital of the Costa del Sol’ has numerous clean, sand beaches, lined by cafés, bars and restaurants with plenty for fans of watersports to do along its Mediterranean coast. Take a trip just outside the city and you’ll find a variety of adrenalin-pumping activities from rock-climbing and zip lining to bungee jumping and hot-air ballooning.

A fantastic city to discover with friends, check out the nightlife which kicks off after dark around the Plaza de la Constitucion, Calle Larios and Calle Granda or check out the nightclubs around Plaza de la Merced and Plaza de Uncibay.

Getting From the Airport

Of course before you can enjoy everything the bustling, fun-filled city of Málaga has to offer, you’ll need to get from the airport to your hotel. There are several options including bus, taxi, private transfer or train.

While public transport can be a cheap option, if you’re travelling at peak times, it can get busy and sometimes you’ll need to stand for much of your journey. Taxis from Málaga’s arrivals terminal are plentiful, but can be hard to get in the summer months, so expect to queue.

For me, the most comfortable and cost effective way to get to the hotel is the shuttle transfer. If you’re sharing the cost with mates, a private transfer vehicle will cost much the same as a local taxi but you’ll be able to book in advance. The advantage of this service is that when you arrive at the terminal your driver will be waiting with a vehicle big enough to fit you all, at a fixed, pre-agreed price. Much better than joining the long queue of tourists all waiting for taxis from Málaga airport.

Airport Transfer Options

Book with a specialist transfer company and you’ll be offered a range of different vehicle options for your journey.

  • Private Transfer With Diver – Car, MPV, Minivan or SimilarIf there’s a few of you then a door to door service in a car, MPV or minivan is a great option and will only cost around £4.59 per person. Simply provide details of your flight when you book and the driver will meet you when you land with a vehicle exclusively for you and your friends. The transfer will take you directly to your hotel so you can get straight on with enjoying your holiday.
  • Private Transfer With Diver – Car, Executive MPV, Minivan or SimilarFor only a few pence more (approximately £4.78 per person) you and your friends can upgrade to an executive MPV, which will pick you up from a meeting point in arrivals. Again the driver will meet you and take you directly to where you want to go for a pre-arranged price to avoid the usual haggling involved with taking local taxis from Málaga airport.
  • Shared Ride Shuttle Service – Shuttle Service, Bus or SimilarIf you are travelling alone and sharing the cost is not an option, then a shuttle service to your final destination may be a good option for you. The shuttle will make stops at a range of predefined meeting points close to your destination for only about £7.89 per person.

A holiday with mates is an exciting fun adventure and should definitely be stress-free so start as you mean to go on and avoid the hustle and hassle of finding taxis from Málaga airport and opt for a stress-free transport option instead.
