Advantages of an experienced Translation Agency

Often a marketing head or a new company is confronted with the task of picking the right vendor for various translation needs. The challenge gets bigger when we think of all the versatility, complexity and consistency that define a document lifecycle. In such scenarios the path usually taken and the one that looks easy for that time at least is to go by a big brand name if one has deep pockets.

Alternatively, one can simply assess various vendors based on their cost differentials and choose one that is appropriate to one’s budgets.

What one misses here, however, is the long-term impact of the decision taken. Ask any long-standing customer and this would come as a certainty that it’s never advisable to change one’s vendors in a random manner or employ several tasks with them in a piecemeal approach. This kind of attitude not only hampers the consistency and fluidity of documents or marketing messages but it also brings in many hidden, unnecessary and heavy costs around repetitive work. Add to this the time taken to understand the unique nature of the customer, its distinct marketing language and other peculiarities. Then there is always the long-term issue of maintaining documents in a smooth and predictable lifecycle.

Hence, this is for sure that shifting from one player to another while deploying a translation agency is not a recommended strategy. What can one do then? The same question of hiring someone with a long-term view comes in here. This brings us to the challenge of assessing the global translation agency to be empaneled.

And if your market is global, you should consider the credentials of the agency in terms of their global experience.

It is not just about the brand name. Several factors go into making that agency global in the course of their global projects. These include, but are not limited to,

  • Professionalism, clear communication, good client management, expectation management, transparency and excellent quality of work

  • On time delivery of quality work & quick turnaround

  • Consistency in the quality of translations

  • Optimization of process documentation

  • On-demand supply of language resources like Interpreters, Testers, Localization Project Managers

  • Multiple languages across multiple mediums, at least 100+ languages

A strategic orientation, ability to understand everything in a global context and being up to speed with the latest regulatory and marketing trends; come as a bonus with the global LSPs. Their level of professionalism, certifications, credentials, culture and mindsets are also vastly different from an average LSP.

If we add the element of technology here, it is not surprising to see a Global translation services company having an extra mile ahead than a simple one. They bring new capabilities and the latest tools for the job. They also have a vastly attractive and useful service layer to the whole offering. That part of their personnel and time spent with a customer, apart from the factors listed above, is indeed the extraordinary factor that sets them apart from just any agency.

Add to this if you have several recommendations from the various global companies endorsing the services, you can assume yourself to be in the safe hands.
