HIMALAYAN (Hi·ma·la·yan) – a bike that tests your on-road manners and off-road madness.

Raw. Rugged. Simple. The Royal Enfield Himalayan – touted as the motorcycle that can go anywhere – was born out of all that is natural to the climes of the Himalayas. It is said to have come into being out of decades of riding in some of the toughest conditions, yet built to flow in perfect harmony with the mountains.

This touch of experience and purity was enough for the Himalayan to become the biker’s bike, and be the rightful stand-in for the Bullet.

Your grandfather called it a Bullet. Your father called it a Bullet. You called it a Bullet. But your son will call it ‘The Himalayan’. The company reveals that the birth of this machine is informed by 60 years of the Himalayan riding experiences packed into the design of the automobile from the ground up. Powered by the new 411cc, single-cylinder air-cooled engine which produces a maximum output of 24.5bhp and a maximum torque of 32Nm, the Himalayan is built on a rugged duplex split-cradle frame. A kind of custom-designed bike, it also offers long-travel suspension and a low seat for all-day comfort.

Were these features potent enough for riders to replace their Bullets with the new masterpiece? The answer is a definite, yes.

Nomadic Knights is the first tour company that started offering expeditions on the Himalayan motorcycle in India, Nepal, and Tibet. According to Alex Pirie, managing director of the tour company, the Himalayan promises to change the face of motorcycle touring in India. The company is so convinced with the new 411cc adventure bike that from April 2017, it will replace the classic Royal Enfield Bullet on its India tours with the Himalayan.

The company is all set to conduct seven motorcycle tours between April and November 2017, including two to Mount Everest Base Camp in Tibet, three in the Indian Himalayas, one across the remote northeastern states of India, and one in the deserts of Rajasthan.

According to an experienced rider from Trails Of India, the real fun of riding the Himalayan will be on the ‘Three Miles High Ride’ tour. This cool sounding tour takes the rider to the world’s highest villages in the remote areas of the Himalayas. From moonscape desert valleys that are shut off from civilisation by snow for half the year to the spectacular Spiti Valley, to the famous 4000 metre high Rohtang pass, there is a vast stretch on which to burn rubber and distinguish the real riders.

The bike is now available in the Indian market at rupees 1.55 lakh, so, if you dare to use the energy of the Himalayan and are ready to fly amidst the Himalayas, all you need to do is turn on its ignition.
