Rara Lake lies at an altitude above 2,990m (9,810 ft.) above sea level covering an area of 10.8 km2 & was established in 1976 A.D. The Lake having a length of 5 km and a width of 3 km has a maximum depth of 167m (548 ft.). It flows into the Mugu & Karnali river via the Nijar River (Nijar Khola) followed by channel of ridges with awesome scenery of valleys and Mountains.
The largest lake of Nepal "Rara Lake" also known as ‘Mahendra Daha’ situated in Mugu district in the Karnali Zone in the far western region of Nepal.
