Are you a single traveller looking to go on a group walking holiday? Does the idea of joining a small group of like-minded people, brought together by a shared interest draw you to the idea of exploring more places? If so, then why not investigate the excellent travel companies offering a walking holiday package for single travellers?

There are many people who love to travel but prefer to be with other people and enjoy a more sociable experience. By travelling in a group you are given the opportunity to meet new people and travel to places you might otherwise not have visited on your own. The group walking holiday experience is generally reputed to be a friendly and informal one that brings people of all kinds of backgrounds and ages together. While out on the trails you will have the chance to be with different people, chat and get to know them, while at mealtimes you can enjoy the pleasures of foreign cuisine with new friends

Singles Room Options

Of course, there is always the option to have your own room as a single traveller - although there is often a charge for this. Depending on the country you're heading to, however, single rooms may vary in quality, may only offer a single bed and may not be as well serviced as the doubles or twins. This said though, your travel company will take care of the finer details of your trip and book the accommodation you want – don't be afraid to ask questions. Some companies that use certain hotels regularly have managed to negotiate a no single room supplement option, which makes booking a single room much easier.

If you do not mind sharing with another single traveller, this can also be arranged. You will be placed with another suitable person of the same sex, and if one is not deemed appropriate you will be placed in a single room at no extra cost to you.

Obviously on a trip that necessitates mountain hut stays and camping, single rooms are not possible. Mixed dorms and multi-bedded rooms are the norm on these experiences, with everyone mucking in and being prepared to be part of the group.

As a single person there are plenty of opportunities to travel and being in a group makes the experience even more memorable. Although initially the idea of joining a group of people you do not know may seem daunting, as soon as you meet them you will be made to feel welcome and at home.

A walking holiday lends itself perfectly to the solo traveller as it has plenty of time for socialising and getting to know others in the group. Many people who travel on these kinds of group experiences return again the next year with the friends they made on the trip.
