There can be few better places to spend a week on holiday than the Amalfi Coast in Italy. A trip here will provide you with endless sunshine, a fascinating culture, picturesque towns and fantastic food. It's unlike anywhere else, and you will be able to enjoy beautiful towns stacked up the sides of cliffs, hidden fishing villages and incredible views.

If you decide you would like to book in to one of the stunning villas in Amalfi, how should you spend a week? Here are some of the highlights you may want to add to your itinerary.

Ravello

Ravello is one of the most popular places to visit for anyone booking villas in Amalfi. It is a small but inspirational town that used to be of great importance in the region, and there is plenty to do here to keep you busy for a short trip.

Start by exploring the main square, then get delightfully lost in the tiny pedestrianised streets. Pop into the interesting boutiques on your way, and stop off in cafés for a break. You should then pay a visit to the beautiful Duomo di Ravello, which dates back to the 11th century, and enjoy the impressive garden estates of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrone. Overall, just relax and take in the peace and quiet.

Amalfi

Popular with tourists, this is another town that used to be a very important settlement in the Middle Ages. With a breathtaking setting, it is the perfect town for exploring with its tiny alleys and steep stairways. You'll feel like you've stepped back in time.Visit the Piazza del Duomo then head over to Atrani, a small village nearby. The area is also famous for its lemons, so make sure you try a delicious limoncello while you are here.

Positano

Positano is another favourite day trip for anyone staying in the villas in Amalfi. You can take the ferry to reach it or drive yourself if you have access o a car. It is an excellent place for relaxing, shopping and dining, and it also has a pleasant rocky beach complete with calm waters suitable for bathing.

Positano can get a bit crowded in the peak season, but don't let that put you off. There are not really any particularly important things to see and do here, and it's more a place to relax, take it easy and take in the views. Go for a walk along the Marina Grande and stop off in its bars and restaurants; if you fancy, you can go on a boat trip to explore some of the hidden coves.

When you book villas in Amalfi, there are many other places to see in the surrounding region too. You may want to visit the island of Capri, head to Pompeii, enjoy a thermal spa in Ischia or enjoy the buzz of Naples.
